DECO2® Technology

How DECO2® works

Flue Gas Collection

CO2-rich flue gases generated during the combustion of solid fuels are captured and channelled into the DECO2 reactor. The system can handle a wide range of CO2 concentrations, from 0.05% to 20%, making it adaptable to various emission sources.

Bubble-Bursting Reactor

Within the reactor, the flue gases are injected into a hydroxide solution, creating millions of microbubbles. The CO2 reacts with sodium hydroxide to form sodium carbonate (Na₂CO₃), a valuable raw material, or with Ca(OH)2 to produce CaCO3.

Comprehensive Decarbonisation Solutions

DECO2® is a groundbreaking technology that captures CO2 emissions from combustion processes and transforms them into two valuable by-products tailored to client needs: high-purity green soda ash (sodium carbonate) or calcium carbonate (CaCO₃).
Sodium Carbonate (Na₂CO₃): A marketable product with extensive industrial applications, including low-carbon glass manufacturing, ceramics, and water treatment, contributing to the circular economy.
Calcium Carbonate (CaCO₃): An eco-friendly alternative that can be safely dissolved in marine environments. By doing so, it not only sequesters CO2 but also helps to balance the pH levels of seawater, supporting the health of marine ecosystems.

Bubble-Bursting Reactor

Our state-of-the-art reactor revolutionises CO2 capture by leveraging advanced chemical processes. The system generates microbubbles within a sodium hydroxide solution, maximising the reaction surface area for efficient CO2 absorption

High-Purity Sodium Carbonate

Applications of Sodium Carbonate

Sodium carbonate, produced through the innovative DECO2 process, is a high-purity and versatile compound with a wide range of industrial applications. Its exceptional quality and eco-friendly production make it a valuable resource for industries striving to reduce their environmental footprint while maintaining high performance.

01

Glass Manufacturing

Sodium carbonate is a critical ingredient in the production of low-carbon glass. It acts as a flux, reducing the melting point of silica and improving energy efficiency in the manufacturing process. Industries producing flat glass, container glass, and specialty glass rely on sodium carbonate for consistent and high-quality results.

02

Ceramics and Porcelain

In the ceramics industry, sodium carbonate is used to enhance the firing process and improve the quality of finished products. Its ability to act as a flux ensures smoother production, better texture, and improved durability in ceramics, tiles, and porcelain products.

03

Water Treatment

Sodium carbonate is widely used in municipal and industrial water treatment to:
– Adjust pH levels.
– Neutralise acidic water.
– Soften hard water by precipitating calcium and magnesium ions.
This makes it an essential component in maintaining water quality and operational efficiency in treatment facilities.

04

Detergents and Cleaning Products

In the chemical industry, sodium carbonate serves as a base ingredient in the formulation of soaps, detergents, and other cleaning agents. Its alkaline properties improve cleaning efficiency by breaking down grease and neutralising acidic residues.

05

Pulp and Paper Industry

Sodium carbonate is used in the production of pulp and paper as a buffering agent and pH stabiliser, contributing to improved fibre processing and paper quality.

06

Pharmaceuticals and Food Processing

The food and pharmaceutical industries use sodium carbonate in controlled quantities as a stabilising agent, pH regulator, and in the production of certain medicines and food products.
